Business Licenses

All persons or companies conducting business in Greenfield must obtain the business tax certificate, whether or not they have offices located in Greenfield. This tax is required at the commencement of business in Greenfield. It is unlawful for any person to transact and carry on any business, trade, profession, calling or occupation in the city without first having procured a license from the City of Greenfield.

A separate license must be obtained for each branch establishment or location of the business transacted and carried on, and for each separate type of business at the same location. Each license shall authorize the licensee to transact and carry on only the business licensed thereby at the location or in the manner designated in such license.

All annual license taxes are due and payable in advance on the first day of July of each year. No license issued by the City shall be transferable. Licenses issued authorizing a person to transact and carry on a business at a particular place may be amended to authorize the transacting and carrying at some other location to which the business is or is to be moved with approval by the City. Information regarding business license can be obtained by contacting the City of Greenfield or by reviewing the Business License Requirement, Title 5, in the City's Municipal Code.
