Federal and State Fair Housing laws prohibit discrimination in all aspects of housing, including home sales, rentals, housing policies and financing.  Each resident is entitled to equal access to housing opportunities regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability/medical conditions, familial status, marital status, age, ancestry, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, source of income, or any other arbitrary reason.

The cities of Salinas, Seaside, Monterey, and the Monterey Urban County (comprised of the County unincorporated areas, along with the cities of Gonzales, Greenfield, and Sand City), as well as the Housing Authority of the County of Monterey, are conducting this survey to learn about your experience with housing discrimination issues and concerns.  Please fill out the following survey The survey is being conducted anonymously. Responses will be summarized and individual responses will not be reported in any way. Thank you! 

Las leyes estatales y federales de vivienda justa prohíben la discriminación en todos los aspectos de vivienda incluso en las ventas y alquileres de viviendas, en las políticas de vivienda y en el financiamiento de viviendas. Cada residente tiene derecho a un acceso equitativo a las oportunidades de vivienda, independientemente de su raza, color, religión, género, origen nacional, discapacidad/condición médica, estado familiar, estado civil, edad, herencia ancestral, orientación sexual, identidad de género, expresión de género, fuente de ingreso o de cualquier otra razón arbitraria.

Las ciudades de Salinas, Seaside, Monterey, y el condado urbano de Monterey (compuesto por las áreas no incorporadas del Condado de Monterey, junto con las ciudades de Gonzales, Greenfield, y Sand City), tanto con la Autoridad de Vivienda del Condado de Monterey, están llevando a cabo esta encuesta y deseamos escuchar sobre su experiencia con sus problemas e inquietudes por discriminación en materia de vivienda. Fair Housing & Tenant Landlord Dispute Mediation Services

ECHO is committed to ending discrimination in housing by providing counseling, investigation, mediation, enforcement, and education through our Fair Housing Program.  The Counselors conduct site investigations and enforcement in response to reports of housing discrimination complaints. If you have experienced or witnessed discrimination based on race, color, ancestry, national origin, mental or physical disability, children, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, source of income, or any other arbitrary characteristic, please call us at one of ECHO's program offices.

ECHO's Tenant/Landlord Counseling Program provides information to tenants and landlords on their housing rights and responsibilities.  Additionally, ECHO has trained mediators to assist in resolving housing disputes through conciliation and mediation. The primary objective of the program is to build awareness of housing laws and prevent homelessness.
